PR in schools would benefit education

By James Knight.

Public Relations is a professional art, if applied correctly. We probably all have our views what correct, it's up to you. To help the profession and young people, my suggestion is that PR is taught in schools, certainly in the later years of schooling at least, as it is a career with great potential.

The British school system does not concentrate on presentation skills enough, this combines with communications skills, leading to PR.

Studying PR campaigns, those which have been successful and otherwise, will give students a great insight into PR, as well as the wider business world the campaigns are linked to.

How to design a campaign in PR from the start to the finished job, creating ideas, giving students in school working in groups ideas and how to pitch ideas to win contract - very useful skills.

They could work on PR campaigns on a wide range of subject from how to promote their school to PR in the community: creative thinking that will give students a insight of PR for a career.

Practices could even come into schools to talk about campaigns

PR could play a great role in creative thinking in schools and prepare students for life when they leave.
