‘Committing to the CIPR ethics code shows how serious I am in my practice’

Chartered PR Anna Boccassini discusses why data, analytics and personal values are fundamental to her career success

Name: Anna Boccassini

Job title and company: Web content manager, University College London

Location: London

Time in PR: 14 years

What does your current role involve?

As web content manager at the IOE, Faculty of Education and Society at UCL, I lead the faculty's digital team and manage the production and maintenance of web content. I focus on our web communication strategy and make sure that our users’ experience is rich and seamless.

What do you love most about working in public relations?

I love drawing on data and analytics to define strategies and make decisions on the best tactics to communicate with different target audiences. I also enjoy working with different people from diverse backgrounds.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?

Becoming a CIPR chartered public relations practitioner has been a fantastic milestone in my career, a recognition of my work and my commitment to never stop growing.

How long have you been a CIPR member and what made you join?

I have been a member for 10 years. I joined because I felt that being part of a professional community would help me grow and develop as a communicator. By joining and committing to the CIPR ethics code, I wanted to demonstrate how serious I am in my practice.

How does the CIPR support your career?

Great volunteering opportunities helped me develop new skills. I had a brilliant mentor, who gave me invaluable support at a crucial time in my professional life. The CIPR also recently funded me to attend the course for non-executive directors, which will open new opportunities for me in the future.

Best piece of career advice you’ve been given?

Put your values and what is important to you always at the centre and align your professional life to them. This suggestion was a real game changer for me.
