What does your current role involve? 

Leading on PR accounts across financial services, mainly focused on the specialty insurance market. I'm part of the management team, leading and mentoring colleagues, working with our social media and design teams on accounts, meeting potential new clients. 

What do you love most about working in public relations? 

There's always an excuse to go out, meet new people, ask questions and learn something new. As a fundamentally nosy person, I love that! Having worked in-house for years, I also now enjoy collaborating with colleagues who are all facing the same challenges. 

What's been the highlight of your career so far? 

Hard to say but probably a rebrand campaign a few years back, where a combination of marketing, comms and social brought our firm some great coverage and fabulous events, including Japanese drummers outside the Lloyd's insurance building. Very satisfying. 

How long have you been a member and what made you join? 

For at least a decade. Working in house in a very small team meant I was looking for training and expertise in other places and I found the CIPR courses incredibly helpful. 

How does the CIPR support your career? 

The training and network support is fabulous. I know there's more I haven't tapped into yet but really should - and I encourage our team to embrace it more too. 

Best piece of career advice you’ve been given? 

What I've seen from watching others is that the best leaders never stop learning. They're always ready to ask questions and pick up something new. I'm not the best with change, so I'm always challenging myself on this one.
