The Newman Hotel London: luxury with a boho edge

A stylish new Fitzrovia bolthole with real personality – and serious potential for PR launches and client entertaining, with sustainability and social impact baked in

Less showy than Soho and less manicured than Marylebone, Fitzrovia feels like an almost liminal neighbourhood you stumble into en route to somewhere else – before you gradually fall for its charms. And the Newman, now open on Newman Street, funnily enough, should be catnip for PR professionals looking for luxury with a mildly boho edge.

The team behind it, Kinsfolk & Co, has serious form. Founded by Paul Brackley and led on the ground by general manager Oliver Milne-Watson, the group draws on experience associated with respected London hospitality names including Corbin & King, the Standard London, the Beaumont London, and the Goring Hotel London. And they clearly understand what many people (at least comms professionals) want from a hotel: somewhere to sleep, sure – but also a place to meet, pitch ideas, and, ideally, host a rather good party.

Rooms, suites and apartments

The Newman offers 81 rooms, suites, and apartments, several with private balconies; while the penthouse suite, complete with terrace, sauna and ice plunge, can be used as an exclusive four-bedroom residence. Those art deco-style interiors are pretty stunning too, created by London studio Lind + Almond, with playful nods to Fitzrovia’s literary and arty past, including the polka dots and bangles of writer and campaigner Nancy Cunard.

But it’s the hotel’s public spaces that are likely to score most points with PRs. Angelica, the all-day European brasserie downstairs, is the perfect spot for media breakfasts, talent lunches, or “informal” strategy suppers. The grub is northern European in, well, flavour (‘curing’ and ‘smoking’ feature on the menu) and a charming sandwich trolley roams around at lunchtime. Downstairs, the Gambit Bar is moodier: an intimate space offering carefully crafted cocktails, in-house DJs – even regular chess nights. It’s easy to picture product launches or informal media drinks taking place here.

Wellness is more than an afterthought too, in the shape of a Nordic‑leaning spa with halotherapy, an Ice Lounge, Finnish sauna, steam, hydrotherapy plunge, and treatments from Hyperice and Déesse Pro LED light therapy for time-poor executives looking for a reset.

Hospitality school

Encouragingly, the Newman’s sense of responsibility reaches well beyond the guest experience. Ahead of opening, the hotel partnered with the award-winning non-profit Saira Hospitality to host a pop-up hospitality school inside the unopened building, training local people who face barriers to employment – and recruiting from that group once the hotel opened. All very much aligned with Kinsfolk & Co’s long-term view of hospitality, with a strong emphasis on social impact and responsible hospitality.

Rates start from £695 per night, positioning it firmly in the premium bracket. But the current Newman Unlocked incentive for early adopters does soften the blow a bit: stays up to 30 April 2026 include a complimentary welcome drink in the Gambit and £100 credit to spend in the brasserie, bar, or spa – rising to £200 when booking a suite.
