Go green

Eco-minded visitors (which at this stage in the game should be all of us) may appreciate the fact that energy-efficient systems automatically adjust lighting and heating based on guest movement. 

And it’s worth reiterating that room2 – the UK’s first net zero ‘hometel’ from Lamington Group, with a gold rating in the Green Tourism Award to prove it – operates on 100% renewable energy. The hotel, after all, is the creation of former Team GB Olympic sailor Robert Godwin, who was inspired after seeing the devastation to the environment wreaked by climate change during a trip to South Africa in 2019.

Here, all waste is either recycled or converted; and the hotel features innovative elements such as repurposed shampoo bottles at the check-in desk, lampshades made from orange peel and mycelium, and carpets fashioned from recycled fishing nets.
